'Sivaji Wanted Me And Rajinikanth To Play Aditya Karikalan And Vanthiyathevan': Says Kamal Haasan
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were the major attractions of the grand function. Rajinikanth revealed that he wanted to do a character, but Mani Ratnam refused Rajinikanth’s request to make him a part of the movie.
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, two of Indian cinema's most recognizable figures, attended the grand audio and trailer debut of Ponniyin Selvan as special guests. All of the cast and crew members as well as a number of other celebrities participated in the event.
Many others attempted Mani Ratnam's ideal project in the past, but it never materialized. Superstar Rajinikanth related a story about Ponniyin Selvan in which the late chief minister Jayalalithaa said the latter would suit the Vanthiyathevan character.
Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan elaborates on the remark, recalling, "Rajinikanth will work well in the character of Vanthiyathevan, Sivaji Ganesan previously told me while we were corresponding. What about me, I then questioned. To play Aditha Karikalan, he instructed me."
The evening featured captivating performances of the movie's songs, led by composer AR Rahman. The historical drama, based on Kalki's book of the same name, will discuss the history of the Cholas. The main cast of Mani Ratnam's first film, includes Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and others, would be touring the world at the same time.
