Social media is such a powerful instrument; even the most little of things can go viral in a matter of hours, and people all over the world become aware of it. The same thing happened last year with the Sri Lankan Sinhala-language song Manike Mage Hithe, which grabbed the world by storm. The song, sung by Yohani, has 229 million views on YouTube and is one of the most popular songs of all time. Regardless of linguistic barriers, music fans from all around the world could be spotted humming the song and using it in reels and music videos.
A Hindi version of the song, sung by Yohani herself and Jubin Nautiyal, was just published - the song is part of the Sidharth Malhotra and Ajay Devgn movie Thank God and includes Nora Fatehi. The song has 109 million views on YouTube and is now one of the top trending music videos. While the reception to the song has been heartwarming, Sidharth, who plays the lead in Thank God, believes it is more than just an item number and has meaning to the tale.
Sidharth told the media that Manike is the film's primary song and that Nora plays a crucial part. He also expresses relief that he has some steps to do in the song, as he didn't have much to do the previous time Nora and Sidharth came together for the song Ek Toh Kum Zindagani from the film Marjaavaan (2019).
