Coming after a gap of seven years, the trailer of Kotthu features all the stars in the film. The trailer also raises expectations about the performance of Asif Ali and Roshan Mathew. Nikhila Vimal is the heroine. Written by Hemand Kumar, the film is produced by Ranjith and PM Sasidharan under the banner of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company. It is the banner that produced the notable films Ayyappan and Koshi and Naayat.
Kotthu also has the distinction of teaming up with Sibi Malayil and Ranjith for a project after the super hit film "Summer in Badlahem. Summer in Badlahem, released in 1998, was written by Ranjith. Kotthu will mark as Sibi Malayil’s next film after "Saigaal Padukayanu," which was released in 2015.
Prashant Ravindran did the cinematography for Kotthu. Rathin Radhakrishnan did the editing. Girish Marar was the Chief Associate Director, and Kailash Menon did the music.
