Shekhar Kapur Discloses Plans To Create A Film Franchise Similar To The Harry Potter Series

Shekhar Kapur has disclosed that he intends to create a film franchise that is similar to the Harry Potter series. He said the series will be distinctively Indian. He stated in an interview that people in India are accustomed to things that are otherworldly. And he said that the project would emerge from India rather than the West. Shekhar stated that he had considered making his previous film, Paani, in Spanish at one point. But ultimately he returned to India to make it an Indian production. He also expressed his desire for Paani to be considered an Indian film, unlike Slumdog Millionaire. He believed Slumdog Millionaire was not labeled as an Indian film despite its box-office success.

Shekhar has stated that he is now working on a project that is similar to the Harry Potter genre. He said it would resonate with Indian audiences. He said that he is developing and will most likely make a film franchise that is the Indian equivalent of Harry Potter. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won Best Comedy at the Rome Film Fest in October 2022.
