Su Venkatesan, who has won a Sahitya Akademi Award, wrote one of his best works in Velpari. More than six years were spent creating Velpari. To ensure that the details were accurate, Venkatesan conducted extensive research, poring over Sangam poetry, and visiting numerous tribal communities in the Western Ghats. After he successfully ran the Pari story in serial form for more than 100 weeks in the prestigious Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan, a renowned publisher published the series as a book. The novel will now be adapted for the big screen in the coming years, under the direction of the brilliant Shankar.
