Shamita Shetty Recalls a Time When The Industry Didn't Give Her Work Following Zeher:I Wanted To Discover More
Shamita Shetty, who had her acting debut in the smash hit Mohabbatein from Yash Raj Films, claimed that following her debut, she didn't get work as per expected. Her next appearance will be in The Tenant.
Actress Shamita Shetty recently discussed her early years in Bollywood after making her acting debut in Mohabbatein. Shamita's career got off to a terrific start when she won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Female) following Mohabbatein. However, the actor only appeared in a small number of movies after that. In a recent interview, Shamita discussed the situation and expressed her desire to have had more work back then. She is also confident that her upcoming movie, The Tenant, will surprise the audience.
Shamita Shetty is Shilpa Shetty's younger sister. Her most recent feature film was Cash, which came out in 2007. She will next be featured in Sushrut Jain's The Tenant, playing the primary character Meera, a single woman who moves to a new culture and encounters difficulties. The movie will debut on February 10.
Shamita talked openly about her struggles in the profession in advance of the release of The Tenant, which brings the actor's absence from movies of more than 16 years to an end. She said to GoodTimes, “To start off with the best and then to suddenly see this drop. I started off with Yash Raj Films. The life that happened to me after that, or rather the work that came to me after that, was not as per my expectations. But then, having said that, when I debuted in Mohabbatein I don't think I realized how much I loved performing. I think that happened to me when I was shooting for Zeher. After that P became more greedy for work. I wanted to discover more.”
She added, “Unfortunately the industry wasn't giving me more. So, like I said, things didn't go exactly the way I would have liked it to go. I, then, always had these long 2-3 years gaps or 4 years gaps between my releases. And, every time I had a release people would say 'oh it's your comeback'. Why come back again? but, I really wished that more work had come my way. I am hoping with The Tenant the industry sees some glimpse of talent in me and decides to offer me some work, that is good for me and that I feel is worthy of my talent”.
After appearing in Bigg Boss season 15, Shamita became quite a well-known outside of movies. She was eliminated during the final round and finished the competition as the third runner-up.
