Shah Rukh Khan recently opened up about Gauri Khan's hidden talent as an interior designer during a financial crisis. In his foreword for Gauri's new book, My Life In Design, Shah Rukh reminisced about their first home in Mumbai. He said that they bought it before the arrival of their son Aryan in 1997. This home was bought before their current bungalow, Mannat, but was beyond their budget. They had decided to spend money on things as and when needed, hence Gauri's interior designing journey began.
Shah Rukh talked about their experience of buying a sofa for the house and finding it too expensive. It was then that Gauri bought the raw materials, made a sketch, and instructed carpenters to make it according to her design. This went on for years, and as their finances improved, they bought a bigger home, Mannat, with no money left for interiors. Hence, Gauri, by default, became their interior designer.
Shah Rukh and Gauri got married in 1991 after almost six years of courtship. They have three children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. Gauri's new book, My Life In Design, showcases her journey as an interior designer and has already received rave reviews.
It is refreshing to see how even celebrities face financial crises and have to make smart choices when it comes to budgeting. Gauri's talent and creativity are undoubtedly showcased through her book, and it is exciting to see how her designs have evolved over the years.
