Nivin Pauly, Saniya Iyappan, Grace Antony, and Aju Varghese are busy promoting their upcoming film, Saturday Night. Recently, the team visited Hilte Mall in Calicut for the film's promotion. After the event got over, Saniya Iyappan and Grace Antony were walking toward the entrance and that's when they were sexually assaulted by unknown people from the crowd. While Grace Antony froze in fear, Saniya Iyappan tried to slap the person who tried to grope her.
Taking to Instagram, Saniya Iyyapan wrote, So, I and my movie Saturday Night team were promoting our new movie at a mall in Calicut. The promotion events went well across all places in Calicut and thanks to the love from the people of Calicut. The event at the mall was extremely packed with people and the security was struggling to handle and maintain the crowd. After the event, one of my co-stars was leaving and some guy misbehaved with my colleague, and she didn't even get a chance to see or react because of the rush and crowd. After that, I also encountered a similar act of misogyny and I reacted to it in shock as you've watched in the video. So, I wish no one has to face this kind of unwanted trauma in their life, of violence against women, there will be consequences and actions against misogynistic individuals.
Grace Antony shared her ordeal in a long note penned in Malayalam. She further added that the film team will take legal action against the people who assaulted Saniya and Grace at the Calicut mall.
