Russo Brothers Praise RRR In Freewheeling Chat With SS Rajamouli

The Russo Brothers and Indian director S.S. Rajamouli got up to discuss their different loves for the genre and what inspires fans worldwide via a virtual meet. Rajamouli found it both satisfying and unexpected to see Ram Charan and Jr. NTR's 'RRR' become the most watched Indian film on OTT, with over 47 million hours of cumulative viewing time with subtitles in 15 additional languages.

 
"Yes, I was surprised by how well it was received in the West," the 'Chatrapathi' filmmaker says in the OTT-arranged interview.
 
"Everyone appreciates a good story, but I didn't plan to produce movies for everyone or to master Western sensibilities," Rajamouli said during his conversation with the Russo Brothers.
 
"I'd never trusted myself before. As a result, I was actually surprised when 'RRR' first came on the OTT, when people began to watch it, when word of mouth spread, and when critics began to praise it."
 
Despite their shared opinion that movies should be grounded in emotion, which Rajamouli refers to as "the basement on which you can construct this tremendous extravaganza," all three filmmakers agree that action is the most generally attractive genre to base their plots on.
 
Joe claims that "The language of action is universal. There is geography and choreography involved. It is possible to converse without using words. As a result, I feel it is, in many ways, the most transcending genre, the most accessible to everyone on the planet."
