The Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer RRR took home the 50th Saturn Award for Best International Film. It's interesting to note that the SS Rajamouli film received nominations for Best International Film, Best Action Adventure, and Best Director.
Rajamouli was shown giving a thank-you speech in an AV even though he wasn't present to accept the award.
“I am so glad that our film RRR has won the Saturn Award in the Best International Film category. I thank the jury on behalf of our entire team. We’re super elated. This is also my second Saturn Award. The first one I had got for Baahubali: The Conclusion,” the director was quoted in a video that the Saturn Awards Twitter account posted.
As the video continued, Rajamouli said, “I wish I was there in person, but due to my prior commitments related to RRR promotions in Japan, unfortunately, I am not able to attend. I would like to congratulate all the other winners. Hope you are having a great time. Have fun, namaste.”
In the action-adventure genre, RRR faced off against titles like Death on the Nile, F9: The Fast Saga, No Time to Die, Top Gun: Maverick, and West Side Story. In contrast, it competed for the Best International Film prize against films including Silent Night, I'm Your Man, Riders of Justice, and Downton Abbey: A New Era.
RRR, the epic action drama in Telugu, was published in March 2022. The movie also included Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, and Samuthirakani in addition to Ram Charan and Jr. NTR. It focused on the lives of two revolutionaries who choose to remain anonymous before taking up arms for their nation in the 1920s.
