RRR recently celebrated a triumphant victory at the Golden Globes 2023 in Los Angeles, where the movie won Best Song for the song "Naatu Naatu." SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, and Ram Charan were in attendance, as was music composer MM Keeravani. After winning, they went on to win Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song at Critics Choice Awards for RRR and "Naatu Naatu," respectively. Despite receiving praise in the West, RRR was not selected as India's official entry for the Oscars in 2023. The Gujarati movie Chello Show was submitted in its place for the Academy Awards.
Jr. NTR recently discussed the reasons behind the rejection of RRR as India's official Oscar entry in an interview with Variety. He stated: "I don’t think there is a lot of politics going on with what films should go. I think the panel, which is sitting down there knows what they do the best... Hindi has primarily been a national language for a very long time and that’s why it has taken prominence. For us, choose RRR or don’t choose RRR, RRR has already made us proud."
After promoting the film in Los Angeles, Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, and Rajamouli have returned to Hyderabad. This is because "Naatu Naatu" has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 2023 Oscars.
On the professional front, Jr. NTR will shortly start filming his upcoming NTR 30 under the direction of Koratala Siva of Janatha Garage. The movie will premiere on April 5, 2024. Prashanth Neel, the director of KGF, will helm NTR 31, which is also in the works.
