Rohit Shetty shot to fame with films from his cop universe. The filmmaker recently revealed that he wishes to remake the popular Hollywood franchise Bad Boys in Bollywood. The director even has the star-cast planned out in his mind. Talking about the film at Neha Dhupia’s chat show, Rohit mentioned that if he ever makes the Hindi remake of Bad Boys, he will cast Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. According to him, he is currently working with the two actors in Sooryavanshi and the chemistry they share is perfect for the remake.
The filmmaker told IANS earlier that Bad Boys is one of his favorite franchises. Not surprising since all his own films are action-packed. He also said that he finds the chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence amazing. Rohit went on to reveal that in 2011, he wanted to remake the film with the makers. But then he went on to create his own cop universe instead.
The third part of the franchise, Bad Boys For Life, launched in India on January 31. The cop movie series began in 1995. The film revolves around a more modern and specialized police unit that conflicts with the old school Bad Boys unit of Smith and Lawrence when a threat emerges in Miami.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty’s next film in his cop universe, Sooryavanshi, is ready to hit theatres. The movie stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role. This is the first time Akshay and Rohit are working together.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that Akshay Kumar’s role in Dhoom 4 stands confirmed. Akshay is also reuniting with his Namaste London co-star Katrina Kaif in Sooryavanshi. The film will also have a special appearance by Ajay Devgn as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba.
Sooryavanshi will hit the theatres on March 27, 2020.
