Rohit Shetty About His Least Favourite Movie Genre; Dark Comedy Is Not Part Of My System

In Indian cinema, Circus director Rohit Shetty is one of the extremely few directors who has mastered the masala entertainer film style like no other. With back-to-back hits like the Golmaal series and the Singham franchise, Shetty established himself as one of the most creditable commercial directors in the nation over time. But even though, the director has been criticized for staying in his comfort zone and not branching out into other film genres. Rohit Shetty recently discussed the reasoning behind this choice in an interview.

The hitmaker admitted in the interview that he has never liked gloomy movies and will never try to make one. "I will never attempt to make a dark thriller. Such films, which are shot in darkness with two people in a single room - I can never make that. It is not part of my system," revealed Rohit Shetty. "Another reason I cannot make a serious project is that I don’t enjoy watching that kind of film. Whenever I think of making something like that, it just doesn’t make sense to me," he added.

The director also said that his viewers should never anticipate a somber, serious movie from him. "That is not my audience. I know what my audience expects from me and I am happy catering to them and entertaining them," Rohit Shetty said in the interview.

His eagerly awaited Cirkus is scheduled to open in theatres on Friday, December 23. The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare is reportedly the inspiration for the film. It stars Ranveer Singh as the title character. The project's female leads are Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandes. Varun Sharma, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kaleskar, and others play supporting roles.

Rohit Shetty is set to rejoin with action icon Ajay Devgn. They will reunite for the third part of the Singham franchise. The movie is titled 'Singham Again'. The director claims that the film will be ten times bigger than Sooryavanshi, the most recent entry in his Cop world. He will afterward produce the next Golmaal movie.
