Pratap Pothan proved his talent as an actor-director and in so many ways not only in Malayalam but also in various Indian languages. He is no longer with us. He made his debut in Malayalam cinema with“Aaravam”. He excelled both as an actor and as a director. He had a passion for acting right from his college days. He was an active presence on theater stages.
He made film appearances in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Pratap Pothan proved his talent as an actor and director not only in Malayalam but also in various Indian languages.
Pratap wed the actress Raadhika in 1985, but their union was short-lived; they divorced in 1986. He wed Amala Sathyanath in 1990, and the two of them had a daughter named Keya. After 22 years, their marriage ended in 2012. On July 15, 2022, his body was found in his Kilpauk, Chennai, flat.
In the beginning, He started performing with The Madras Players. Pratap was approached to appear in the Malayalam film “Aaravam”. The late director Bharathan after he was impressed with his performance in Shaw's play Androcles and the Lion (1978). He appeared in several movies with the then famous talented actresses.
He has a unique style of acting. His famous directorial movies are “oru Yathra Mozhi”, “Vetri Vizha”, Daisy, etc. Mohanlal's first directorial venture 'Barros' was the last film he acted in.
