Rani Mukherji Talks About How Theatre Experience Wins Over OTT

Actress Rani Mukherji has recently made her comeback to the silver screen with Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Although she acknowledges that OTT is now a major player in the entertainment industry, Mukherji firmly believes that the feeling of watching a film in a theatre cannot be replaced.

Mukherji points out that films are meant to be seen on the big screen. She says this is so because it is a communal experience akin to watching a match in a stadium. She emphasizes that the immersive feeling of being in a theatre cannot be replicated at home. She points out that distractions like phones and interruptions can ruin the experience.

Mukherji takes pride in her film, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. She says the film has helped restore people's confidence in taking on projects that are meant for the big screen. Having spent more than two decades in the industry, Mukherji has built a reputation for herself as an actress with a high calibre. Her films like Saathiya, Chalte Chalte, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, Mardaani, Hichki, and Bunty Aur Babli 2 illustrate the same.

Mukherji believes that the cinema experience is exciting. She compares it to planning a picnic. She says that scrolling through options at home after a hard day's work is not the same as the unique experience of watching a film on the big screen. In conclusion, Mukherji maintains that cinema is a beautiful art form that is best enjoyed in a theatre.
