The coronavirus pandemic has affected the releases of all the films across the world. We hear that the shoots may resume only after July and theaters will reopen by the end of this year. Thus, many producers are planning to schedule their releases next year. Even the makers of Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film Annaatthe have decided to do the same. They have announced that the film will hit the screens during Pongal 2021.
From the last two years, Rajinikanth is releasing his films during Pongal festive season. In 2019, he released Petta, and this year, he released Darbar. Now, in 2021, he is coming up with Annaatthe. The news got confirmed by film's production house Sun Pictures, just a while ago. Thus, it has become the first South Indian film to confirm its berth for Sankranthi 2021. Earlier, Rajamouli announced that his upcoming magnum opus RRR will release on January 8, 2021. But now, it looks highly impossible as the shoot got halted for the last two months. Thus, there might not be any big films that clash with Annaatthe during Pongal next year.
Annette is being directed by Siruthai Siva. Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Kushbu Sunder, and Prakash Raj are playing the other important roles in this movie. The film got done with half of its shoot. The rest of the shoot will begin once the lockdown gets lifted. It is being produced by Sun Pictures and D. Imman is composing the music for it.
