Pulwama Attack: After Sidhu now Kapil Sharma Statement embroiled in controversies
Navjot Singh Sidhu, former cricketer, politician, and television personality attracted a huge outrage from the netizens for his statement on the Pulwama terror attacks. He stated that ‘No individual nation could be held responsible for such cowardice acts and that terrorism did not have any religion.’
Not long after this statement is made, social media is flooded with outrage message with the hashtags #boycottsidhu, #boycottkapilsharmashow, and #boycottSonyTV. #BoycottKapilSharma has been featuring in Twitter's top trending hashtags. Reportedly the media channel asked Sidhu to leave the association with the comedy show that Sidhu has been a permanent guest. Adding spice to this, Sidhu is not present in the show from the last episodes who is replaced by Archana Puran Singh.
Kapil Sharma, the host of the show, recently spoke on the issue commenting that using trending hashtags like #boycottsidhu or #boycottkapilsharmashow will not help for any good. He also stated that the press is unnecessarily diverting the youth from the main issue to protests. Kapil also clarified to the media regarding the absence of Sidhu from the show for two episodes, was owing to 'prior commitments'.
Talking about the Pulwama attacks, “I am in complete support of the government. But we need a permanent solution," said Kapil. "The cowardly act in Pulwama that killed our soldiers should not be forgotten and the culprits should be punished," he added.
