The coronavirus pandemic is shaking the entire globe right now. People are getting panicked due to the widespread of the disease. Now, the prestigious film festival of the world, the Cannes International Film Festival also got postponed until further notice.
According to the sources, the team of Cannes is planning to organize the festival either in June or July. The festival was actually supposed to get held on May 12th to May 23rd. Apparently, many options got considered and the team found postponement will be the best one among them. As soon as the French and International Health associations give an assurance, the team of Cannes will decide on the dates. They will announce the new dates after consulting the festival board members, film industry bigwigs and the sponsors of the event.
Cannes is one of the oldest film festivals running in the entire world. It got started in 1946 and is happening every year. It is the most popular film festival across the globe. The Best Film at the festival will get awarded with Palm d'Or prize. In 2019, Parasite won this award. It got directed by South Korean filmmaker Bong Jon Hoo. The parasite also won the Best Picture and Best Foreign Film awards at the recently concluded Oscars. It is the third film to win both Palm d'Or and Academy Award for the Best Picture.
