Director Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express features Shah Rukh Khan Deepika Padukone and Sathyaraj in lead roles. The film, which was released in 2013 went on to become a blockbuster. However, many from the South felt that Tamils were misrepresented in the film. Premam director Alphonse Putharen also made some scathing remarks back then about the expression of Tamils in the Chennai Express. After eight years, Alphonse Putharen has apologized to Rohit Shetty. He wrote, "Long back I had said, I had a problem with Rohit Shetty about his expression of Tamil in Chennai Express. That was my personal opinion. I’m sure he had no intentions to hurt Tamilians. Because I have heard that he used to make films inspired by Shankar Sir’s songs and action scenes. So I’m sorry for that comment of mine sir.”
