In a recent media interview, writer Jeyamohan allegedly claimed that during the film's original casting, the crew considered actor Vijay to portray Vanthiyadevan and Mahesh Babu to play Arunmozhi Varman. But, as both the actors could not take up the role, the team decided Jayam Ravi and Karthi were perfect for playing the roles.
'Ponniyin Selvan,' a historical epic fiction drama, will be released in theatres on September 30. The film's trailer and music were released on September 6 in Chennai. The film's promotion is in full throttle, with only 23 days till its premiere.
'Ponniyin Selvan' is a film in the works for a long time. It was originally planned in 1964 by MG Ramachandra to adapt the film from Kalki's novel, but Kamal Haasan obtained the rights in 1989. However, after so many years, Mani Ratnam has finally finished the film, which is set to be released this month.
