The film’s page on the popular movie review aggregator website is being dominated by negative reviews from multiple accounts. Reportedly, out of 6,900 votes, 4,000 shows the lowest rating (of 1 star). This has taken the film’s rating down to 4.4 stars.
Compared to this week's other big release, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior which has recorded 8.8 stars, Chhapaak’s rating has reached a dangerous low. Over the weekend, Ajay Devgn's film has recorded 5,800 votes recorded out of which 4,300 gave the film ‘10’ star ratings. However, both movies are getting reactions by critics and moviegoers which are opposite to their IMDb ratings. Many are impressed by Meghna Gulzar’s directorial and Deepika Padukone’s acting. After Deepika extended her support to the JNU students by visiting the campus last week she started receiving both backlash and appreciation. Twitteratis are suspecting if Chhapaak’s ratings are low not because of dissatisfied moviegoers but because there is something more to it.
One of the users wrote, "Bhakts at it again. #Chhapaak is 4.3 on IMDB. Compare this to Tanhaji which is 9.0 currently. What else can you expect from such lowlifes?" Another said, "Quick quiz: What percentage of people have rated #Chhapaak on IMDB without watching it?"
Two years ago, Anubhav Sinha's film Mulk also faced a similar attack on the website. At that time Sinha took to Twitter and expressed his anger saying, “The IMDB rating of #MULK is being attacked. You know what? I don’t give a Flying F***!!! MULK has received too much love to worry about that. More people love the film. They will respond to you".
