Parineeti Chopra will play singer Amarjot Kaur in her next. She will play the female lead opposite Diljit Dosanjh. Diljit will play the singer Chamkila in the film, an Imtiaz Ali directorial. Imtiaz Ali has mentioned how it has always been his goal to make a movie about the lives of two of Punjab's most well-known artists. His goal is now finally coming true. The director is preparing to begin filming in a week under the direction of Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh. Diljit plays Chamkila's part in the movie. Parineeti will play Amarjot Kaur in the film. According to sources, Parineeti Chopra will begin filming the movie in Mumbai on December 11.
“Parineeti has been prepping for the part over the last few months. She is now all set to start the journey of this Imtiaz Ali directorial on December 11 in Mumbai. The scheduled shooting will be with breaks. It will be over two months in December and January” revealed a source close to the development. Adding further that there have been ample script-reading sessions over the last few months. “Imtiaz, Parineeti, and Diljit have done several workshops and are now all set to take the film on floors from December 11,” added the source.
The movie will tell the story of Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur. Amarjot Kaur was murdered on March 8, 1988, along with other members of their musical troupe. Imtiaz Ali has become intrigued by the story because their assassination has remained an open case to this day.
Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh will work together for the first time on the movie Chamkila. The soundtrack for the movie is already locked. The word on the street is that Imtiaz Ali and his music team will be creating a special alust for the audience.
