In an interview with Colors Cineplex years ago, Kamal Haasan revealed that he had given a wristwatch as a gift to Shah Rukh Khan.
“No one will believe what I say anymore, you will all think this is a story. I'm talking about an actor who made a movie with only a wristwatch. The actor has said many times in various interviews that he wants to be a part of the film industry. That's how he came to the movie Hey Ram. The actor is Shah Rukh Khan. Even when Hey Ram's budget increased for many reasons, he never even asked me for a reward. When I asked about the reward he said ‘it doesn’t matter.
And so that picture happened. He did that movie without getting paid. Then I presented him with a wristwatch. It's rhetorical to say that he made the film for a wristwatch;” said kamal Haasan.
Hey Ram, directed by Kamal Haasan, was released in 2000. The film was a financial failure but received critical acclaim.
Kamal Haasan's latest film is Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj. Apart from Kamal Haasan, Surya, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahad Fazil and Kalidas Jayaram will also be seen in the lead roles.
Ratnakumar and Lokesh Kanakaraj have penned the script for the film. Anirudh Ravichandran has composed the music for the film.
