Superstar Rajinikanth is eagerly waiting for the release of his upcoming film Darbar. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film features Thalaivar in dual roles, like that of cop Aaditya Arunasalam and social activity. In the film, Nivetha Thomas plays Rajinikanth's daughter Valli.
She was last seen in Tamil in Kamal Haasan's Papanasam. "After Papanasam, I was open to doing good scripts in any language and got plenty of offers in Tamil but nothing excited me and suddenly out of the blue, Ninnu Kori in Telugu fell into my lap and I got a lot of appreciation. I was keen to do a mass film and hence did Jai Lava Kusa and it helped me reach out to the mass audiences in Andhra."
Speaking about her role, he said, "You know something, the first time, I met Rajini sir was when he was in his make-up and immediately I related to him as my dad. We shot together for almost 45 days and I saw him only as of the character he played and that too, my dad and it was only on the last day of the shoot, did I get out of that mode and click a selfie with him, as I realized that I am with THE Superstar himself. When you play the heroine in a big star film the scenes will be clichéd, like songs and romance but in Darbar, I was lucky to play his daughter who was always working with him closely. Honestly, it was an emotional moment for me once I realized that the shoot is over."
