Namashi Chakraborty's Bollywood Debut: How He Secured His First Role On Merit Alone

The Bollywood debut of Namashi Chakraborty, Mithun Chakraborty's son, was in the film Bad Boy, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Namashi revealed that he did not reveal his lineage to the casting directors or anyone else involved with the movie. He remained silent until Santoshi noticed a resemblance between Namashi and Mithun. He was selected for the role based solely on his own merits, according to Namashi. He added that his father's reputation played no role in the casting decision.

“Raj ji and my father were colleagues and he still didn’t know that Mithun has more kids. We come from a very humble and low-profile family. I never questioned why they don’t know me. I always believed in myself and knew that one day, I’ll land something on my own,” he added.

Bad Boy also stars Amrin Qureshi, the daughter of film producer Sajid Qureshi, and Rajpal Yadav and Johnny Lever. It was released on April 28 and had to compete with Mani Ratnam's PS-2, but it failed to do well at the box office.

Namashi's older brothers, Mimoh and Ushmey, also entered the film industry, but they did not achieve the same level of success as their father. Yogeeta Bali, Namashi's and his brothers' mother, acted in films during the 70s and 80s.

Mithun Chakraborty was last seen in The Kashmir Files, and his latest Bengali film, Projapoti, was a blockbuster hit. Baap is his next film in the pipeline. Despite being the son of a famous actor, Namashi is determined to make his own way in the industry and did not rely on his father's connections to secure his debut role.
