Ye Maya Chesave had hit the screens on 26th February 2010. It is the second film by Naga Chaitanya. His first film Josh was a flop and the actor needed to score a hit with his second one. Rather than going with the commercial potboiler, Chaitanya chose to do this soulful love drama and the end result was a blockbuster. Still, the younger generation of Telugu states considers Ye Maya Chesave is a cult film. The love story of Jessie and Karthik will not get forgotten by the Telugu viewers for many years.
Even the songs of this film were chartbusters. The entire album, composed by AR Rahman, still remains in the playlists of many people. Ye Maya Chesave's Tamil version Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, starring Simbu and Trisha also got released on the same day. Later, it got remade in Hindi as Ek Deewana Tha, with Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson as the leads.
