Mammootty's Bilal: Is The Project Set To Begin Production After Amal Neerad Locks The Screenplay

Mammootty has a huge stack of interesting projects in his schedule and is now on a signing binge. The Malayalam film industry's biggest star is currently redefining himself as an actor by making some highly risky character and production decisions. He will also be reprising his well-known role as Bilal John Kurissinkal from the beloved movie Big B in the upcoming sequel. The follow-up, titled Bilal, was first announced back in 2017, but it has been repeatedly postponed for a variety of reasons.

Recent reports indicate that Bilal has returned to his planned route. One of the most eagerly awaited upcoming films in the Malayalam cinema industry, the Amal Neerad-directed Mammootty starrer, appears to have finally had the script finalized, according to the most recent updates. Bilal reportedly had several writers on board at different stages, including Unni R, the author of its precursor Big B; but, director Amal Neerad was not happy with the majority of the scripts, which led to the prolonged delay. According to reports, the former cinematographer-turned-filmmaker is quite picky about the script and has decided to hold off on shooting Bilal until he receives the best version. Amal Neerad reportedly hired the script that Unni R created for the Mammootty film after being impressed with it. According to rumours, Bilal will ultimately begin production in May 2023 and will be shot in several international countries, including Poland. A significant update to the Mammootty starrer is slated very soon. In 2004, Amal Neerad made his directorial debut with the Mammootty-starring film Black. Later, in 2009, he made his directorial debut with Big B, a neo-noir action thriller starring the megastar. With following films like Anwar, Iyobinte Pusthakam, and Varathan, the filmmaker became one of Malayalam cinema's most in-demand talents. His most recent film, Bheeshma Parvam, which was his second time working with Mammootty, was a huge critical and financial success.
