Malayalam legendary actor Mammootty congratulated PT Ushak on her nomination to Rajya Sabha. Mammootty congratulated PT Usha through his social media accounts. Mammootty took to Twitter and wished P.T. Usha on her achievement.
"Congratulations to Our beloved @PTUshaOfficial for being nominated to Rajya Sabha;" mammootty wrote on Twitter.
PT Usha was nominated for the vacancy of Suresh Gopi and other Rajya Sabha members.
Earlier, Mohanlal congratulated PT Usha and Ilayaraja for being nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Mohanlal congratulated both of them through Facebook.
"Hearty congratulations to the maestro, Ilayaraja sir and P T Usha, India’s queen of track and field, on being nominated to the Rajya Sabha! Wishing you both the best of luck," wrote Mohanlal in a note shared on Facebook.
Besides the two, Virendra Hegde and Vijayendra Prasad Guru have also been nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated all the four nominees to the Rajya Sabha. He also tweeted that Ilayaraja is a musician who has influenced generations.
Philanthropist and administrator of the Dharmasthala temple Veerendra Heggade and celebrated screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad are also nominated to the Rajya Sabha. PM Modi shared separate tweets to congratulate Usha and Ilaiyaraaja for their nomination to the Upper House of Parliament.
The legendary Indian athlete is fondly remembered for her run at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
