The Tamil Nadu state government reportedly announced the State Film Award Winners in various categories from 2009 to 2014 on September 3, 2022. The winners are expected to receive their awards today, September 4. Winners were announced for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film, and Best Lyricist.
Late Na Muthukumar received the State Award for Best Lyricist. He is being recognized for his lyrics in the films Thanga Meengal' and 'Saivam.' Na Muthukumar was a well-known and sought-after lyricist in the Tamil film industry. For the third year in a row, he will receive the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Lyricist.
The lyricist died in 2016 after suffering a cardiac arrest. The lyricist was said to have had jaundice for a long time. Na Muthukumar started his career as a lyricist for the Tamil film 'Malabar Police' in 1999. He has written songs for over 300 Kollywood films. He has been in the industry for nearly 17 years, but his songs have etched his name in stone for centuries to come.
The State Film Awards for 2009–2014 were scheduled to be held in 2017. However, due to a number of flaws, the announcement was postponed.
