Being a master of marketing, Aamir Khan plays his cards close to his chest before the release of his movies. As Laal Singh Chaddha's countdown nears, we have special knowledge that Aamir has struck a major agreement with the largest national chain in India, PVR, to get the best possible exposure at the establishments across the nation. Sources indicate that Laal Singh Chaddha would receive more than 65% of the PVR showcase, leaving Raksha Bandhan with barely 35%.
"Aamir and PVR are working together. He will receive a significant portion of the showcasing in PVR theatres in India as a result of the barter deal. Aamir would initially have an advantage on the showcasing front thanks to this decision since the national chain now has a majority of the multiplex business in India, accounting for close to 55 percent of the market" disclosed a source.
Team Raksha Bandhan, however, appears unconcerned by Mr. Perfectionist's move. "The Raksha Bandhan team is quite conscious of who they are trying to reach. Raksha Bandhan targets rural areas, whereas Laal Singh Chaddha is more of an urban movie. As a result, Zee Studios is concentrating more on getting the film shown in single screens across India. Raksha Bandhan will have enough performances by the time of release, even if the overall showcasing will favour Laal Singh Chaddha, giving it a chance to be a success" added the source.
A battle between two AKs will determine the victor in this battle of titans. The aim, nevertheless, differs between the two movies. Given the high stakes involved, the Aamir Khan starrer will need to surpass Kartik Aaryan starrer, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to become the biggest Bollywood film of the year, whereas the Akshay Kumar film will only need to cross the 85 crore mark to be regarded a success venture. "Given the goals for both movies, it seems evident that LSC will do at least 20% better than Raksha Bandhan. It's a fair divide that gives both movies a large enough audience to reach their goals" shared the source. The release of the two movies is set for August 11.
