Last month, Sun Pictures, the production house, took to social media to announce that they are financing the entertainer tentatively titled Thalaivar 168.
According to the latest reports, actress Khushbu Sundar says to be in talks to play the female lead in Siruthai Siva's film and sources revealed that the talks are positive and Khushbu is a step away from officially joining the team.
It has been a while since Khushbu chose to take up lead roles in films. In the past few years, she appeared in cameo roles in films produced under their home banner Avni Cinemas.
If she decides to come on board, then it will be an epic reunion of Rajinikanth and Khushbu, who have acted together in several films in the 90s.
The duo has been a hit in films like Annamalai, Mannan, Pandiyan, Naatukoru Nallavan, and Dharmathin Thalaivan.
Thalaivar 168 is currently in the pre-production stage and it expects to go on floors in the first week of December. It says that the makers fixed December 18 as the shooting date. However, it is now rescheduled to begin on December 5.
Comedy actor Soori had reported to be roped in to play a pivotal role. Composer D Imman, recently confirmed that he will manage the tunes for the film.
