In recent times, IMAX theatres have aroused great interest among moviegoers all over the world. Experts say that IMAX theaters, with their huge aspect ratio screens and stadium seating, offer another level of cinema experience. IMAX screens have already started working in many major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Social media speculations about an IMAX theatre coming up in Kerala are years old. But now it is becoming a reality.
Kerala's first IMAX theatre is coming up in Trivandrum. IMAX is coming to Trivandrum in Lulu Mall and will start operations in January. Avatar 2 will also be the first film to be screened there. This was confirmed by Pritam Daniel, Vice President of Theater Sales, IMAX Asia. Pritam visited Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in connection with the start of IMAX screens in Kerala. He informed us that the IMAX in Trivandrum Lulu Mall is just the beginning of the activities in Kerala. The team is also looking into the possibility of an IMAX in Kochi. As part of this, they visited Cinepolis in Center Square Mall and PVR in Lulu Mall. Kochi is also considered to be a suitable city for an IMAX theater.
Pritam announced the start of IMAX operations in Trivandrum on Twitter. Movie buffs are sharing this information with great enthusiasm in social media groups. Meanwhile, James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water is releasing on December 16.
