The film has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Mimi is based on a Marathi film titled Mala Aai Vhhaychy!. Kriti Sanon played the role of a pregnant woman in the film. She gets pregnant through surrogacy for a foreign couple. On knowing that the child has some pre-birth mental issues, the foreigners leave Kriti Sanon on her own to take care of her child. How she copes up with the struggle forms the story. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the film was released on the OTT platform.
