Karthi Turns Vandhiyathevan From Ponniyin Selvan On Twitter

It was director Mani Ratnam's longtime dream to adapt Tamil literary novel Ponniyin Selvan into a film. After multiple failed attempts, Mani Ratnam managed to put together a team in place. For the past two years, Mani Ratnam and his team have been shooting for Ponniyin Selvan. The period drama features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, and Jayaram in important roles. The shooting is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh. On August 25, Jayam Ravi, who plays the role of Arulmozhi Varman, has wrapped up the shoot.

Bidding goodbye to him, Karthi decided to give a glimpse of his character from the film. For the first time, he confirmed that he is playing the role of Vandhiyathevan in the film. Vandhiyathevan is the trusted aide of Adithya Karikalan, played by Chiyaan Vikram. Karthi took to Twitter and wrote, "Prince @actor_jayamravi, you cannot bid goodbye so soon! You have a lot to do for the Chola Dynasty. In six days, we will finish work in the North and head back to the South - Vandhiyathevan." The first part of Ponniyin Selvan will release in theatres in 2022.
