Karnan movie to release on Amazon Prime Video on May 14

After watching director Mari Selvaraj's debut film, Pariyerum Perumal, actor Dhanush was mighty impressed. He immediately signed a film with director Mari Selvaraj, which was produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Titled Karnan, the film hit the theatres on April 9 and received overwhelming response from the critics and audience alike. Karnan starred Dhanush, Lal, Rajisha Vijayan and Natarajan Subramanian in lead roles. Days before Karnan released, the Tamil Nadu government announced that theatres in the state will function with 50 per cent occupancy to combat the novel coronavirus pandemic. Despite the restrictions, Karnan performed exceptionally well.

After almost a month after the release of Karnan, fans are eagerly waiting for the streaming of the film on an OTT platform. Amazon Prime Video, who has purchased the streaming rights of the film, announced that Karnan will be released on the platform from May 14. Sharing the poster of the film with the release daye, Prime Video wrote, "The face of the facelless. Meet #KarnanONPrime, May 14 (sic)." Karnan spoke about the police brutality and how people in the village Podiyankulam struggled for their basic rights.
