Kannada star actor Upendra is a well-known celebrity in the Telugu states too. His films like Raa, Upendra and Buddhimantudu have done a good business in Telugu. Upendra has also acted in straight Telugu films like Salute and S/o Satyamurthy. If the latest grapevine is anything to go by, he has signed another Telugu film. Apparently, Upendra will star in a key role in Varun Tej's upcoming boxing drama.
The makers are currently holding talks with Upendra and it seems that the latter has also given his nod to do the film. He is yet to sign the dotted lines. An official announcement will get made once the actor comes on board for the film. If this news is true, this film will mark the comeback of Upendra in Telugu cinema after a gap of five years. Upendra is busy with Kannada films as well but in recent times, he stopped doing films aggressively. Upendra wants to make sure that whatever film he does, it scores well at the box-office. Varun Tej wanted to have a big star cast in his film and with Upendra's addition, the film will certainly look grand.
Varun Tej is playing the role of a boxer in this film. Naveen Chandra is also essaying an important character in the movie. Directed by debutant filmmaker Kiran Korrapati, the shooting of this film went on floors a few days ago. More details on it will get announced soon. Allu Venkatesh and Sidhu Mudha are jointly bankrolling this project. Thaman is composing the music for it.
