Positive reviews are being received so far for the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. The prequel, starring Matt Smith, Milly Alcock, and others, is set 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones and focuses on the history of the House Targaryen. A former Game of Thrones cast member recently reviewed the show.
Game of Thrones famed Jon Snow, Kit Harington, recently shared his reaction to the ongoing prequel series. In an interview with ET Canada, the actor discussed House of the Dragon and stated, "I'm really enjoying it. My friend Miguel [Sapochnik] show-run it, so I'm really enjoying it. I think they've done a fantastic job." He further continued, "It's a weird one to start a whole new show in the same kind of realm and to make it its own thing. I think that they've really done that."
In Game of Thrones, Kit Harington played a guy who initially appeared to be a member of the Stark family but was later discovered to be half Targaryen. Aegon Targaryen, the son of Lyanna Stark and the late Prince of Dragonstone, Rhaegar Targaryen, was revealed to be Jon Snow's real name in the last season of the television series.
A Game of Thrones spin-off that centers on the character of John Snow are also in development, as per the recent reveal. Author George R. R. Martin confirmed the potential project on his blog, writing, "Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us, cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific."
