Jimmy Sheirgill On Balancing OTT And Film Projects

Actor Jimmy Shergill is enjoying success both on the big screen and on OTT platforms. The Rangbaaz Phir Se star is pleased that producers are taking risks and creating engaging projects regardless of the medium.

Throughout his career, Shergill has embraced experimentation, never fearing the outcome. He asserts, “I have earned recognition for my work irrespective of whether the film worked or not! So, for me, it’s important to live up to my image of doing interesting roles and thankfully I’m able to do that.” During his recent visit to Lucknow, Shergill shared his views on the exciting opportunities OTT offers, including more creative freedom for writers, producers, and actors.

While some may have advised him against playing a mature character for his OTT project, Shergill relishes the challenge. He enjoys the preparation and shooting process and relishes a good script. His upcoming projects include Pushpendra Nath Mishra’s OTT series Chuna, Haseen Dillruba’s sequel, Santosh Singh’s action-thriller series tentatively titled Grey Wars, and Neeraj Pandey’s film Auron Main Kaha Dham Tha with Ajay Devgn and Tabu.

Shergill remains optimistic about his work, adding, “It’s a good mix of work that will come one after another.” In his recent series, Your Honour, Shergill set the tone and raised the level a few notches up in the second season.

“I have been experimenting throughout my career. Thankfully, I have never been in a situation where I had to worry about anything." says the actor. "I have earned recognition for my work irrespective of whether the film worked or not! So, for me, it’s important to live up to my image of doing interesting roles and thankfully I’m able to do that.”

Shergill's back-to-back OTT stints, along with his other projects, have been fruitful. The actor has embraced the opportunity OTT platforms offer by allowing more creative freedom. As he puts it, “OTT ka toh mazedaar time hai kyunki aap khul ke bahar aa sakte hain. You don’t need to fear that chalega ya nahi chalega. Anything new and interesting is being lapped up by the audience.”
