The late actress Sridevi was cast against older male performers when she was a teenager, according to her daughter Janhvi Kapoor. Janhvi Kapoor also discussed what she would do if she was matched with an actor who was older than she was in a recent interview. According to her, the majority of the actors she wishes to collaborate with are outside of her "age range."
At the age of four, Sridevi made her acting debut in the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai (1967). She debuted as a child actress in key roles in the Tamil film Thunaivan (1969). At the age of nine, Sridevi made her Hindi cinema debut with Rani Mera Naam (1972). When she was 13 years old, she was given her first adolescent adult part in the Tamil movie Moondru Mudichu in 1976. Solva Sawan was Soldevi's first leading role in a Hindi movie (1979). Among other films, she appeared in English Vinglish (2012), Mom (2017), Mr. India (2012), Chandni (1989), Sadma (1983), Judaai (1997), and Himmatwala (1983).
Janhvi said, “She was 13 when she was a heroine to the fathers, and she was 21 when she was a heroine to the sons. It’s actually very wrong, but it’s how it was back then."
Talking about getting paired opposite an older male actor, Janhvi said, “If it happens in life. And if it’s consensual, then art imitates life, and life imitates art, so why not. And there are so many talented actors that I would. Even in Hindi, most of the actors I want to work with aren’t in my age bracket.”
The eldest child of Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor is Janhvi. Khushi Kapoor, her younger sister, is also a Kapoor. In 1996, Boney wed Sridevi, his second wife. He previously wed the producer Mona Shourie. Two children were born to the couple: Arjun and Anshula Kapoor.
Fans most saw Janhvi opposite Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa in the survival thriller movie Mili. Mathukutty Xavier directed it. It is Janhvi's first time working on a project alongside her father Boney, who produced the movie.
Janhvi will co-star with Varun Dhawan in the upcoming movie Bawaal from filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari. The movie is scheduled to premiere on April 7, 2023. Along with Rajkummar Rao, Kumud Mishra, and Rajesh Sharma, she also has Mr. and Mrs. Mahi.
