It has been 18 years for the release of Venkatesh's musical hit Vasu

Generally, Telugu star heroes opt for larger than life films to suit their stardom. Daggubati Venkatesh is one such star hero who gained stardom through family dramas and relatable films. One such film is Vasu. This musical hit celebrates its 18th release anniversary today. On this occasion, let us have a look at this film.

Vasu got directed by A. Karunakaran. He used to be a hotshot director during those times for directing films like Tholi Prema and Yuvakudu. The film featured Bhumika Chawla as the female lead. Vasu deals with the story of a police officer's son. The father always hates him for not scoring well in the academics. On the flip side, the son tries to pursue his career in music, which is his passion. How things progressed in their relationship forms the rest of the story. Parents not allowing their kids to pursue their own dreams is still prevalent in our country. Thus, Vasu is a relatable subject even in today's times. The film received a positive response upon its release and became a musical hit.

Music is the biggest strength of the film. It marked the debut of Harris Jayaraj in Telugu. All songs composed by him were instant chartbusters. They still remain in the playlists of many Telugu audiences. Pataku Pranam, Sportive Boys and Paadana Theeyaga remained as musical classics. It was also the 50th film of Venkatesh. It won Nandi Award for Best Home-Viewing film. Vasu got produced by KS Rama Rao under the banner Creative Commercials.
