Irrfan Khan's demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Today will go into the records as a dark day for Indian cinema. The Indian film industry has lost one of its phenomenal actors, Irrfan Khan. The Talvar actor passed away earlier this morning in Mumbai. He was undergoing treatment in Kokilaben Hospital due to the colon infection. Irrfan was battling with cancer from the last two years. The entire nation is shell-shocked with the demise of Irrfan. Right from celebrities and politicians to normal citizens, everyone is mourning the death of Irrfan. Even Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has paid his last respects to Irrfan. Modi said that Irrfan will be forever remembered for his versatile performances.

About a while ago, Modi tweeted, "Irrfan Khan’s demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and admirers. May his soul rest in peace." Not only Modi but Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren have also paid their condolences to Irrfan's family. Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor have also prayed for Irrfan's soul. Irrfan's last screen appearance was in the film Angrezi Medium. This Homi Adajania directorial film had hit the screens last month. Irrfan shot for this film when he was battling with the disease. The actor was 54. He survived with his wife Sutapa Devendra Sikdar and two sons. Irrfan's mother had also passed away just four days ago.
