The surprising news is emerging out of the sets of Indiana Jones 5. The action-adventure franchise which is set to return for the fifth time on the big screen was earlier directed by Steven Spielberg himself. But if the latest rumors are true Spielberg is now looking at quitting the director's role. Instead, James Mangold expected to replace him as the new director. Mangold has a number of critically acclaimed films under his belt which include the R rated Logan and Le Mans '66 (AKA Ford V Ferrari).
The news about Mangold joining the project has no official backing yet. But trusted sources in the Hollywood industry have revealed that Mangold is currently in talks for the upcoming Indiana Jones film. Even if Mangold takes over as the new director Spielberg will continue to be one of the executive producers for the long-awaited project.
The star of the film continues to be Harrison Ford who will be reprising his iconic role as the famous directive, Indiana Jones himself. Ford has brought his charm for three superhit films and a disappointing fourth film. The film's script has been under works for a long time now undergoing various changes.
The film is currently scheduled for release on 9 July 2021. Both Spielberg and Mangold have the capability to pull off a successful Indiana Jones film if given enough time and creative liberty. It will be interesting to see if any official news about Mangold surfaces soon.
