The next film from director Imtiaz Ali, Chamkila, is ready to go. It is based on the life of Amar Singh Chamkila. Back in March 2022, it was rumoured that singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh would star in the biography, and Parineeti Chopra would play Amarjot Kaur.
According to a source in a media portal, Parineeti Chopra has been busy for the past few months getting ready for the part. Parineeti and Diljit Dosanjh have participated in various workshops together. The filming will start on December 11 and last for two months. There will be two months off in December and January 2023.
Amar Singh Chamkila was a songwriter, musician, and composer for the uninitiated. He is recognized as one of the best performers Punjab has ever had. He is from Punjab and rose to fame using the stage name Chamkila. His environment had a huge impact on his music. The songs were a satire on Punjab and its culture. His best-known tunes are 'Takue Te Takua', and 'Pehle Lalkare Naal' among others.
On March 8, 1988, Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur, along with two members of his band, were mercilessly shot and killed. According to the reports from the time, a group of motorcycle-riding, armed youngsters shot six bullets, killing them all. No arrests were made at the time, and the case remains unsolved to this day.
Diljit Dosanjh's most recent appearance was in the Punjabi movie Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne. His most recent Hindi movie was Good Newz. He began his music tour in India on December 9 in Mumbai, and it is presently on.
