International Film Festival of India (IFF) is the oldest film festival in our country. This year marks the 50th anniversary of it and thus, the organizers have made grand plans to make it a big event. The 50th edition of IFFI kickstarts on the 20th of this month and ends on the 28th.
As a part of golden jubilee celebrations, the team of IFFI introduced a special category this year, called Golden Peacock Retrospective. Golden Peacock is the award given to the film that wins International Competition at IFFI. A total of nine films, which were Golden Peacock recipients, will get screened under this category.
The films are At Five In The Afternoon (Iran), Gamperaliya (Sri Lanka), Hungarian Rhapsody (Hungary), The King of Masks (China), Leviathan (Russia), Moner Manush (India), Porfirio (Argentina-Columbia), The Bostonians (UK-USA) and Talpan (Kazakhstan).
All the films belong to different countries and there is also the Indian Bengali film, Moner Manush, directed by Gautham Ghose. People who miss watching any of these gems can now catch them on the big screen at IFFI. On the flip side, a total of 15 films are competing for the Golden Peacock Award this year. On the whole, over 200 films will get screened in this nine-day festival.
