International Film Festival of Indian (IFFI) is the oldest film festival in our country. It celebrates golden jubilee anniversary this year. Thus, the organizers of IFFI have made special plans to make this 50th edition a big success. A few new film screening categories also got added on this special occasion.
One of those sections is, 'The Golden Lining,' which showcases a few Indian classics which are celebrating their 50th anniversary. A total of 11 films of various Indian languages are getting screened under this category. They are Adimakal (Malayalam), Aradhana (Hindi), Dr. Bezbaruah (Assamese), Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (Bengali), Iru Kodugal (Tamil), Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai (Punjabi), Satyakam (Hindi), Stree (Oriya), Tambadi Mati (Marathi), Uyyale (Kannada) and Varakatnam (Telugu).
Many of these films are also the national award recipients for the year 1969. Most of the present generation film buffs might have not seen these classics on the big screen. Thay can fulfil that desire at IFFI this year.
IFFI 2019 kickstarts on November 20th and ends on November 28th. This nine-day festival will witness screenings of over 200 films made across 76 countries. Thousands of delegates across the globe are coming down to Goa to attend the festival.
