Hugh Jackman, one of the biggest names of the Hollywood industry, rejected a role in Cats, the 2019 musical fantasy film inspired by the stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber
The film was a complete flop in the box office with terrible reviews fans and critics both alike. The film starred Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, James Corden and Jennifer Hudson in pivotal roles. The audience disliked the movie and it was a disaster with the reviews it received. According to reports released recently, Hugh Jackman was initially approached by the director of Cats, Tom Hooper to play a role in the movie but the actor actually turned down his plot and also claimed that he was too busy for any other projects.
‘You know, Tom rang me early on because we did Les Mis together, and there were a couple of options there based on availability and time, and I really… yeah, I just wasn’t available at the time,’ the actor was also quoted saying.
He also said that he had not seen the movie yet and will make no remark about it as he is not "in the business of bashing people—or jumping on bandwagons."
Hugh also previously made an appearance in Tom Hooper's critically- acclaimed 2012 adaptation of the popular musical Les Miserables. Hugh Jackman actually received his first Oscar nomination for playing the role of Jean Valjean in the movie.
