Encouraging Dowry; Nitin Gadkari Was Criticized For Sharing A Road Safety Ad Starring Akshay Kumar

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari shared a video about the road safety campaign starring actor Akshay Kumar. Many people took to social media to criticize the ad for promoting dowry.

While the central government is making an effort to promote six airbags in cars, the Union Minister posted the actor's paryam on social media. However, netizens pointed out that the ad promoted the dowry system. In the video, the father cries as he sees his daughter getting married in a new car to the groom's house. But the short of the ad is Akshay Kumar, a policeman, mocking the father for sending the newlyweds in a car with only two airbags.

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized such advertisements as promoting the evil of dowry. 'This is a very problematic ad. Who authorizes such creativity? Chaturvedi tweeted, "Is the government spending money to promote the safety aspect of the car through this ad, or to promote the evil and criminal practice of dowry?"

Trinamool Congress National Spokesperson Saket Gokhela responded that it is disgusting that the Indian government is officially promoting dowry. The road safety ad was released after Tata Sons former chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident
