Director Pawan Kumar creates UPI ID to receive donations for Sandalwood’s daily wage workers

Lucia and U-Turn director Pawan Kumar announced through a photo and video that he will be going live on his Instagram and YouTube pages to discuss the Kannada Film Industry amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic. Kumar is home adhering to the Janata Curfew initiated by PM Modi. He said that he'd like to use this time to do something productive. Kumar stated that he'd like to discuss what the industry can do to help the daily wage workers of the Kannada Film Industry.

Subsequently, the actor-director went live at 10 am. The actor couple Diganth and Aindrita Ray joined in on this live stream. The three celebrities have collaborated many times in the past. Kumar and Diganth have worked together on multiple films such as Pancharangi and Life Ishtene. In fact, Pawan Kumar directed Diganth in the film Life Ishtene. The three actors have also appeared in Yograj Butt's Manasaare. Pawan, Diganth, and Aindrita discussed the effect the Coronavirus Pandemic has had on the Kannada Film Industry. They spoke about what can be done to help the daily wage workers if film shoots remain shut for a month or so. Kumar talks of how the Kannada Industry has close 20,000 daily wage workers. To help them, Kumar has decided to set up a UPI-ID to receive donations. Diganth and Aindrita have agreed to kick start the initiative by donating first. Kumar has now put up the UPI-ID on his Instagram and Twitter pages. He hopes for the success of this initiative. On the work front, Pawan Kumar has recently decided to crowdsource talent for his new film. He wishes to meet fresh talent to collaborate with.
