Director Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is a dream film. It has been a three-decade-dream for the director to adapt the popular Tamil literary novel into a film. The first part of Ponniyin Selvan will grace the theatres on September 30. The second part is currently in post-production and will hit the theatres sometime in mid-2013. As reported earlier, Ponniyin Selvan is a period of historical fiction film about the Chola dynasty. Trish essays the role of princess Kundavai in the film, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen as princess Nandini. Chiyaan Vikram and Jayam Ravi will be seen as Aditya Karikalan and Arulmozhi Varman in the film.

Trisha's look has become the talk of the town. During the pre-release event, Trisha revealed that she wore real jewelry in Ponniyin Selvan. She said, "Of course, the jewellery was real, and thank you for coming and supporting us. I have frequently come to Delhi, I love being in this film and being part of a Mani Ratnam film. I hope I have done justice," added Trisha. The actress will have an epic face-off with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Nandini in the film. This scene is touted to be one of the highlights of the film.
