Did Suriya Pay The Makers Of Marathi Film Ranga Patanga For Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum?

On September 24, Suriya's production venture, Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum released directly on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Arisil Moorthy, the film features Ramya Pandian and newcomer Mithun Manickam in lead roles. After the film was released online, it received mixed reviews from the audience. However, there were harsh criticisms from a few who claimed that Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum is a remake of the Marathi film Ranga Patanga. When Suriya produced the Tamil film, he did not know that Aril Moorthy's story was inspired by Ranga Patanga after several critics and netizens pointed out the same.

Reportedly, director Arisil Moorthy had planned to buy the remake rights but later changed his decision. He thought that his film had a lot of new sequences and decided against it. Now, Suriya felt that it would be a gross injustice to not pay the makers of the Marathi film. So, he decided to buy the remake rights and compensated the makers of the film. It is great to see a leading producer like Suriya promote proper ethics. Many films these days have been unofficial remakes of superhit Marathi, Bengali, Korean, and other language films.
